Preparing for Your Mini Session

Welcome! If you’re on this page, it’s likely because we have an upcoming session- I am so excited to be photographing you and your family! My number one priority is that your photography session is fun and relaxed! My goal is to get candid and posed shots of you and your family that really show the essence of a family: the love, the fun, and (occasionally) the chaos!

Here are some tips to help your session run smoothly:

  • Make sure everyone is rested and fed (especially kids)
  • Get your kids excited by telling them how much fun it will be, but no need to put too much pressure on the idea of “Best Behavior”
  • Remember that your kids are just kids. They aren’t professionals or even grown-ups, so don’t stress if they don’t 100% cooperate. We will still get cute photographs.
    • All that being said, I do usually tell my own girls if they give their best smiles and have fun they may get to stop at a playground on the way home or get a special treat.
  • Since this is a mini session, we will move at a slightly quicker pace to get a variety of looks and images.
  • What to wear?
    • Try to avoid everyone wearing the same thing, and instead dress in a few coordinating colors. Jewel tones photograph very well.
    • Big patterns look nice in pictures; feel free to put a patterned shirt, leggings, or dress on a family member or two!
    • I love to find a patterned dress for myself or a child, and then dress the rest of the family in colors from that item for a cohesive look!
    • Please try to avoid:
      • Very small patterns, they sometimes do not photograph well
      • Shirts with logos or writing on them
      • Everyone in the exact same color
    • Choose clothing that you are comfortable in.
    • If you plan to enlarge and display photos in your home, then think of your home décor, and choose outfits that would complement that!

After the session

    • Within two weeks you will get an e-mail with a link to your online viewing gallery. You will view all of the edited images and select the number of images that are included in your package. If you wish to do so, you will also have the opportunity to purchase additional images!
    • From there, you will have rights to print or share your images as you wish
    • *I highly recommend that you do not print your images at your local pharmacy or big-box store. They simply do not produce high quality images, and you will be so much happier with your products if you choose a reputable printer.
    • A few sites I recommend for printing are:
      • mpix.com
      • nationsphotolab.com
    • You also have the option to purchase professionally printed products following your session!

I can’t wait for your session! Feel free to message or call me at any time with questions!
